Nothing But the Best for Mum – give her Irish Flowers this year!

Forget about gifting out of season imported flowers this spring and pay your mum the compliment of seeking out the real McCoy – beautiful Irish grown flowers. They’ll be so  much fresher than the usual cut flowers, they’ll last much longer and you’ll have the satisfaction of supporting Irish growers. Ireland’s biggest grower is Elmgrove Irish Flower Farm https://elmgroveflowerfarm.ie/ in Co Meath, which held a Pick Your Own day recently and is always worth a visit for its shop, evolving garden centre and good food, and there’s a growing number of smaller growers, many of whom are members of Flower Farmers of Ireland https://www.flowerfarmersofireland.ie/, an association that now has  over 100 members and, after Mother’s Day, will have a new website which will be greatly improved.  These great growers are producing beautiful Irish blooms, and the ones below are just a few of those who are offering fresh flowers (and perhaps also dried arrangements) for Mother’s Day and/or Easter – and of course for other occasions throughout the year, including weddings.  Some growers have a farm shop or supply a local retailer, most will also have vouchers available – and some also offer courses such as flower arranging, which could make another  perfect present.

For further information and to order check out individual growers and the Flower Farmers of Ireland website https://www.flowerfarmersofireland.ie/
