Designed and managed as a showcase for organic farming and sustainable tourism in Ireland, Rock Farm Slane is on the Slane Castle Estate and it was established by Carina and Alex Conyngham (Earl and Countess of Mount Charles) as an ecotourism destination in 2010.
A dream destination for families and anyone with a love of the outdoors and an interest in sustainability, it's just across the River Boyne from Slane Castle with access to the river for kayaking and electiri bikes available for exploring this beautiful area. Carina manages the eco-tourism business on the farm which specialises in glamping, outdoor events and activities as well as farm tours.
There are five yurts and two shepherds' huts available for glamping holidays and private groups including weddings (accommodation for up to 30) and, while it's basiclaly self-catering, there are food packs available including seasonal pizza packs to cook in the outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, organic meats and other ingredients from the farm, and even hosted barbecues with chef (and washers up) supplied. A cool communal area, Le Shack, is where food is prepared and everyone chills out - and, for those who prefer something more like a B&B, there's a straw-bale barn conversion, The Lime House, with six large bedrooms (sleeping up to 22) en-suites and open plan dining and living areas that are perfect for groups.
