Tom and Elizabeth Malone started off with two acres in 1988 and this family enterprise near Altamont Gardens has since grown to be a 12-acre farm.
It is now run by son their James - but Tom is still on hand for packing and delivering the best quality fruits in the height of the summer season (and giving valuable fruit growing advice!)
Malone Fruit Farm produces a wide variety of fruit - strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries, loganberries, tayberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, whitecurrants and rhubarb - and, since 1999 they have also used their fruit to make preserves. This led to the construction of a purpose built kitchen where they produce a wide variety of jams, jellies, marmalades, chutneys, fruit tonics and cordials.
Fresh fruit is sold at the farm shop in season, and frozen fruit and a full range of homemade products are available all year round.
Some products, including hampers, are available online and many are also on sale in retail outlets and markets, including Carlow Farmers' Market.
