Going strong since it was established by Tomas Kinsella in 2008, this excellent craft butchers reinvented itself in 2022 when Tomas made a major investment in refreshing the business with an impressive re-design and store refurbishment.
The fundaments haven't changed however, and - while they offer a full range of prime meats and poultry - the pièce de résistance is top quality Wexford beef and lamb which, unusually, comes from their own abattoir in Bunclody.
Today this very modern, excellently presented butchers shop combines the best of old and new, with traditional core values and also a keen awareness of customers' current needs. All meats displayed are in prime condition and knowledgeable, smartly-dressed staff are on hand to answer questions, including giving advice on preparation and cooking the many cuts of meat and poultry on offer.
They also offer a Barbecue Service for groups of 30+ guests, which includes cooking and, if necessary, supplying all of the extras needed such as plates and cutlery, glasses,napkins etc.
Other services include wholesale supplies within the South-East and also next day nationwide delivery of online orders, with biodegradable packaging another point of pride - and customer-friendly extras, such as the possibility of paying for large family purchases like Christmas turkeys and ham over a number of weeks.
Hot meals produced on site are chilled and sold in the shop (ideal for families / people living on their own, or for self-catering viistors on holiday) and they also have an excellent range of dried goods and condiments for sale.
All round Butcher's Best is an admirable buisness and it's a place well worth visiting when you're in the area.
