A stylish, comfortable spot for lunches, brunches, cakes, milkshakes, smoothies, tea and coffee, this Italian-style coffee shop owned by pastry chef Marcin Chlebicki and Joanne Dunne is in a convenient location in the heart of Castlebar, with parking nearby. Marcin has developed a love for chocolate and the amazing chocolates that he produces in the coffee shop have become a special reason to visit.
With a mixture of vintage finds and mismatched wooden tables and chairs, the décor is warmly up to date. A pleasant and welcoming place to be, it is brightly coloured and airy with big windows looking out onto the street and nearby square. And, as well as the very comfortable inside seating, there are a few outdoor tables for two.
It's very family friendly, with the usual goujons and burgers that are popular with children, but they also do simple scrambled eggs and beans on toast. Adults can go for an array of gourmet sandwiches and salads as well as a choice of meat and vegetarian burgers which are a house speciality. Although there is not very much name checking on menus, there's an assurance that beef is 100 per cent Irish and they use the famous Kellys black pudding from Newport in their full Irish.
The crepes and pancakes are excellent - each made freshly to order - and, as well as being generally efficient and friendly, the staff are especially good with children.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
