Pat and Breda Maher are the fourth generation of the Maher family to farm here and they make an astonishing range of cow and goats milk cheeses including the trademark raw cows' milk Cooleeney (camembert style), which has become a benchmark for the very best of Irish farmhouse cheeses.
Their newer Tipperary brie is making waves too, having achieved significant recognition, including a rare 3 star Gold at the Great Taste Awards (at which other cheeses from their range also frequently play starring roles).
Other products include the Dunbarra range (semi-soft, flavoured), Gortnamona (goat), Maighean (pungent, raw cows' milk); they also export other farmhouse cheeses in addition to their own range.
The better known cheeses are widely available from speciality stores; hampers, including their own chutneys and preserves along with cheeses and wines by David Dennison Fine Wines, are available to order (for further information, contact them directly using email enquiry button above).
