Patrick O'Riordan and Ali Crowley's charming bakery and deli was one of the early trailblazers in the new wave of 'real' food in Ireland and, although it has recently had a major makeover, the site has a much longer baking history than you might think, as ships biscuits for the British navy were made here in the 18th century.
The principles of commitment to quality ingredients and respecting tradition while also being open to innovation have stood the business in good stead, and this delightful place has earned a loyal following over the years for its quaity and all round deliciousness.
The range of baking covers everything from the every day (soda breads, scones) to every conceivable kind of cake for family, friends and special occasions. They also stock some of Declan Ryan's famous Arbutus sourdough breads and offer a wide range of delicious things to go in their deli - fantastic salads, quiches and tarts, home baked ham, roasted organic salmon and much more...
Not content with all that, they also offer a catering service - and stock a carefully selected range of wines, supplied by respected specialists Karwig Wines of Carrigaline and Bubble Brothers of Cork.
Well worth seeking out - and the perfect place stock up for a picnic.
