This delightful sister to the other successful Jaipur restaurants in Dalkey and Malahide, and Ananda in Dundrum (see entries), occupies a custom-designed restaurant space in, and overlooking, a modern shopping mall just off the main street of Greystones.

Established in Greystones in 2005 Chakra is a favourite meeting point for the locals and a destination restaurant for people who fancy a night away from Dublin. The restaurant was fully renovated in 2021 and the stylish and comfortable interior draws inspiration from the Wicklow mountains nearby. The décor is bright and inviting with an array of green shades running through it - and furnishings are sound-absorbingly soft so, while you will hear the gentle buzz of chatter, there is never too much noise.

The Front of House team is led by Albert Thomas, a favourite and familiar face for anyone who has dined with the Jaipur group over the years, and service is unobtrusively attentive and charmingly friendly.

Chef Dinesh Chander's excellent cooking maintains Jaipur’s crisp, modern contemporary take on traditional Indian food - colourful, delicious, well-flavoured dishes with a lot of eye-appeal. Dinesh is the group’s Executive Chef and he has trained some of the best known Indian chefs in the country.

The vegetarian choices are numerous and appealing, and old favourites like tandoori prawns and succulent biryanis are served with splendid breads and delicious sauces. The dessert menu is worth exploring and, as with all of the Jaipur restaurants, the group’s Wine Director, Anand Priyadarshi, has curated a fairly priced wine list carefully selected to complement the menu. The talented team at the bar have also been working on a list of classic cocktails with a house twist, well worth considering before you tuck into your food.

Handy to the DART station - and the shopping mall car park is available free for diners too, so this is an ideal destination for a foray out of the city.
