This impressive hotel in Ballyliffin village is a great asset to the area - with a beautiful view, space and comfort. Public areas include a traditional bar, and the spacious guest rooms are finished to a high standard with many extras.
General Manager Cecil Doherty, who is also a joint-proprietor of the hotel, has considered every detail including excellent on-site leisure facilities, with swimming pool and spa treatments using natural Voya & ÓG Ireland products, tucked away underneath the hotel at the Rock Crystal Spa.
Discounts are available for hotel guests at Ballyliffin Golf Club, and short breaks are offered. The hotel also accepts wedding parties, which can be very large (remember the Donegal catch-phrase is ‘up here it’s different’).
Jacks Bar & Restaurant:
Ballyliffin Lodge has always been known for its good food, although the style has changeda little in recent times, with the move from a small fine dining restaurant to the larger open-plan bar and restaurant, Jacks. The commitment to local produce, notably fresh fish, remains unchanged however, and you may expect accomplished modern cooking.
Evening menus offer the choice of a set dinner or an à la carte, typically including pan roasted fillet of Greencastle landed plaice on a buttermilk and scallion creamed potato, or the ever popular roast rack of Irish lamb with a brioche and herb crust, roasted baby fennel, which is served with a lamb sausage and rosemary jus.
NB: A formal lunch is only available on Sunday, and is very different from the evening dining experience as a substantial carvery is provided for this locally popular outing.
