Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Upstairs, over a craft shop (which you will find especially interesting if you like Irish pottery), Paddy & Johnny McGuire’s country-style first-floor Killarney restaurants been delighting visitors with its warm atmosphere and down-to-earth food since 1990.

It’s a large area, but broken up into “rooms”, which creates intimate spaces - and the country mood suits wholesome cooking, in menus offering a good range of popular dishes.

Hake and salmon gratin is an enduring favourite, for example, and there are traditional dishes like boxty (potato pancakes) which are not seen as often as they should be in Irish restaurants; here they are the house speciality and you can have them with various fillings - chicken, lamb vegetables - and salad.

An interesting range of desserts includes good home-made ice creams.

An informative wine list offers a wide range and is a good match for the food.

This is a welcoming restaurant that never disappoints, and it has an old-fashioned character which is becoming especially attractive as so many others adopt a contemporary style.

The chief turns good irish products into gastronomic masterpieces A beautiful way to spice dishes and to match flavors. Aromas are well balanced and quantities enjoyable. Two delicious breads help to wait. Service is pleasant and the chief can adapt to diets.
