Set in an impressive modern building overlooking the golf course and designed to make the most of beautiful views over Kenmare Bay and the Beara Peninsula, Nua Vista is a gorgeous new dining venue at The Ring of Kerry Golf Club, owned and managed by Sheen Falls Lodge.

Entry is from the higher side (the back) of the building, into the first floor restaurant - and your eyes are immediately drawn to the large windows and that wonderful view. The bar is on your left as you enter a very large open plan space with a few white pillars and large potted plants breaking up the space and slab sized flooring tiles. Whether you're visiting for a brief meet-up over coffee or have a leisurely lunch or dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, the panoramic views are there to be enjoyed by all. Very comfortable seating beckons, also a balcony for al-fresco dining with a view in fine weather.

Like its sister restaurant The Stables Brasserie, menus offer a range of crowd-pleasing options for light bites and more substantial meals, featuring respected Irish producers from the South-West region and beyond - with famous names including Thornhill Duck, Gubbeen Chorizo, St Tola goat cheese, Toonsbridge Mozzarella and Billy Clifford's organic salads.

Popular specialities that give a flavour of the place include Cromane mussels (a main course, with leeks, smoked bacon and cider velouté), the Nua Vista Burger (with spiced tomato chutney, gorgonzola cheese, brioche bun and French fries) and Seafood linguini (with mussels, clams, brown shrimp and spiced tomato sauce). The cooking is creative and this, together with a great staff attitude ,will ensure an enjoyable outing - and, if you’re in on Sunday, you can treat yourself to a traditional Sunday Roast such as Black Angus Sirloin with roast veg, potatoes and a red wine jus.

To finish there are time-honoured desserts like Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream or classic Lemon Tart with raspberry sorbet - and, with a full bar in the room, you’ll have no shortage of choices when it comes to drinks, with local beers such as Killarney Blonde Ale and  Killarney Full Circle IPA taking pride of place.

So, with its lovely setting, good cooking, friendly staff and efficient service, Nua Vista is a great place to know about - for golfers and non-golfers alike.
