Sligo native Aisling Kelly returned to her home town in 2014 to open this friendly café in the premises that was once her family’s pub.
Situated near the bridge and just a stone's throw from the famous statue of WB Yeats, this well-named café is easy to find - but there is much more to this terrific little place than just a catchy name.
While the main business is serving more-ish home baking, tasty lunches and all the little lifts that daytime visitors and shoppers need, Aisling's love of all good things Sligo soon led her to extend the offering to include interesting handmade local crafts and artwork.
And then, in 2018, she achieved a long-held dream with the opening at WB's of Ireland’s first dedicated oyster trail and interactive visitor centre, the Sligo Oyster Experience.
It begins with a short walking tour, crossing the Garavogue river that runs through the town and out to Sligo Bay where oyster production has taken place in the mineral-rich waters for generations.
On returning to WB's, Aisling then gives a demonstration of oyster shucking and tastings of 'naked and dressed' oysters that are so delicious and appealingly presented that even the most cautious visitors get to love these briny treats - especially when paired with local craft beers...
