A former chef, George Stephens decided to leave the catering industry and go into the supply of quality food rather than cooking it - now his fish shop attracts an enthusiastic clientele, keen to enjoy the wide variety of fresh fish and shellfish he stocks and the sound advice given by friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Known as both 'The Fish Market' and 'Stephens Fish Market', this successful family business has expanded and now includes a newer shop in the busy university town of Maynooth, Co Kildare.

George Stephens Jnr was a finalist is the inaugural Young Fishmonger of the Year Awards in 2013, created by BIM to recognise and reward young fishmongers.
