Set in formal gardens just south of Dublin's city centre, with views across Dublin Bay to Howth Head, the fine 18th century house at the heart of this impressive hotel was once a private residence.

Careful restoration and imaginative modernisation have created interesting public areas, including the Orangerie Bar and a pillared ballroom with minstrels' gallery and grand piano.

This Dublin hotels bedrooms are in a modern four-storey block adjoining the main building, all have garden views (some of the best rooms also have balconies) and air conditioning, and are well-equipped for business guests.

Accommodation is comfortably furnished to a high standard in contemporary style, although some rooms (and bathrooms) are less spacious than might be expected in a recent development.

Talavera:

In four interconnecting rooms in the lower ground floor, this informal Italian restaurant is decorated in warm Mediterranean colours and, with smart wooden tables dressed with slips, modern cutlery, fresh flowers and Bristol blue water glasses, it is atmospheric when candle-lit at night.

A well-balanced menu offers a balanced choice of dishes inspired by tradition and tailored to the modern palate.

This Dublin restaurants good atmosphere and caring service from friendly, efficient staff add to the attraction of a meal here.

The wine list offers a strong selection of regional Italian bottles to match the food. Residents may expect the usual good Radisson buffet for breakfast.

*Lighter menus are also offered all day in the Orangerie Bar and Ballroom Lounge.
