In a fine corner building overlooking the Old City Walls and Derry’s beautifully restored Guildhall, this quietly luxurious privately owned boutique hotel has proved a popular addition to the city since its welcome arrival in 2017.
It's in a handsome period building, which is an attraction in itself, and the central location means that all of the city's most famous attractions, including the Peace Bridge, are close by - and the main shopping areas (Richmond Shopping Centre and Foyleside Shopping Centre) and entertainment destinations such as the Playhouse Theatre and the Millennium Forum are also just a short stroll from the hotel.
'Boutique' is the key word, it's not a large building by modern hotel standards and the rooms are compact - but they are chic and thoughtfully furnished, with smart en-suite shower rooms (only one has a bath and separate shower).
The Shipquay Restaurant is open throughout the day all week and it's a popular weekend destination for the 'Bottomless Brunch' (with complimentary prosecco or cocktails included). Cocktails and craft beers are also the specialities in the hotel bar, Lock & Quay, where an appealing tapas and light 'sharing' menu is offered from noon daily.
Whether for a romantic getaway or a shopping break, this is a great destination - and discounted rates are offered at the Shipquay Townhouse & Day Spa too.
