In a stunning location on the lower slopes of Slievemore mountain - overlooking Keel Lake and the dramatic cliffs, shore and crested sea beyond - this aptly named lodge and restaurant/wine bar lays claim to being one of Ireland's best-kept secrets, and it is well worth seeking out.
It's the western branch of the well known Clontarf (Dublin) kite surfing and watersports school that was set up in 2006, by French brothers Francois and Christophe Colussi and their friend Catherine, and anyone who has been here will agree that is, well, pure magic.
It's a charmingly laid-back kind of place with a cosy bar, open fires and that simple kind of quality restaurant that the French do so well - and, of course, activity holidays including kitesurfing, SUP (stand up paddling) and kids' summer camps, are the main focus for most guests.
But one of the nicest things about Pure Magic is that anyone who is simply moseying around the island will feel equally welcome, and it's an ideal place to drop into for a casual lunch or a snack in summer - and dinner too, although it would be wise to book. A mix of French and Italian cuisine is the style, with authentic pizzas a speciality - and service is charming.
'Welcome to our little paradise' says the sign at the wicket gate that leads in from the road and, laying out its wares succinctly, it goes on to list the 'homemade pizzas, delicious fresh food, tasty desserts, kids meals, mighty breakfasts and great coffee' offered!
And, although it started off more like a hostel, the rooms have all been revamped recently and now offer individualistic and very reasonably priced en-suite accommodation. Simple but comfortable, they're all themed on places that the owners have enjoyed on their travels and decorated with items they've collected along the way.
The bar can be lively at night, with music sessions frequently taking place, and there's a pool table to keep youngsters busy too - there is something for everyone at Pure Magic, and we always look forward to popping into every time the Guide is visiting the area.
