This fine establishment in Kenmare, previously known as the Fáilte Bar, goes back to 1913 and is now known for its tasty food and traditional music.
Although quite small, renovations have allowed more natural light into the rooms so it is brighter and has quite a spacious feeling. There's an open fire (always a good sign) and the dining area separated from the bar by low partitions, topped by wine bottles for privacy. Everyone loves it, whether for a snack lunch or more leisurely dinner.
Wholesome, fresh-tasting food includes an extensive choice of home-made soups, salads, light snacks and a wide range of sandwiches at lunchtime, while evening menus are more selective, offering a full dinner menu, plus daily specials of fresh fish and steak dishes.
Ingredients are carefully sourced and there’s a home-made flavour to the food, including desserts. There’s a great buzz, a friendly atmosphere and efficient service - and live music to look forward to on some nights (usually Fri, Sat & Mon).
