This is a fantastic little place and, even if the stunningly beautiful Loop Head (and its lighthouse) weren't such a magnet, it would be worth heading to the peninsula just for the pleasure of a visit to Liz Greehy and Ailish Connolly's fascinating cottage.
True to to the Irish tradition of multi-function businesses (pub, shop and undertaker is the classic example), Liz and Ailish pack a powerful punch in their charming cottagey premises, which house not only an excellent shop but also a delightful café, a Tourist Information point - and, upstairs, an evolving local museum, the Henry Blake Heritage Centre.
The shop is the place to head to for quality art, crafts and artisan food products which you won't find easily elsewhere as most of the items stocked are genuinely local - and, behind it, the lovely little café is just the spot for a comforting cuppa and one of the famously delicious cakes and goodies supplied by Pat and Imelda Bourke of The Pantry, in Kilkee.
It's a fascinating place to drop into at intervals as it never stands still and the museum, especially - which tells the story of a local character who once lived nearby and gives a great insight into life in the area in times gone by - is growing all the time.
Not to be missed - and it's a very family friendly place too.
