Next door to Kelly's Butchers, this homely café on the Great Western Greenway is run by Sean Kelly’s daughter, Shauna - whose appealing cooking includes many ingredients from her dad’s shop, as well as lovely desserts and cakes to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
A warm and friendly place, where the motto - as in the shop next door - is "Food made up to a standard, not down to a price", it's a favourite destination for breakfast and brunch and the dishes on the breakfast menu (available all morning, from 9am-12.30pm) are ideal for showcasing Kelly's products.
There's a great version of the Full Irish, of course, and all its variations, such as the Mini Breakfast and the Gluten Free Breakfast - but also, less predictably, a Veggie Brekkie featuring the enterprising butcher's vegetarian versions of the classic breakfast meat products - vegetarian sausage and vegetarian white pudding - along with other traditional ingredients including home made boxty.
You'll find more 'brunchy' options too - and something like the Kelly's Burrito, or Kelly's Bap might be a very welcome to take with you on the Greenway, along with a good hot coffee, tea or hot chocolate in a recyclable cup.
Lunchtime brings a wider menu - the seafood chowder is a favourite - and the house speciality - Kelly's Roasted Goat - roasted vegetables, creamy goat cheese and pesto in a toasted wrap.and there's good home baking to enjoy at those in-between times.
Serving real homemade food and with a real community feel, it's no wonder that Kelly's Kitchen is such a popular spot.
