Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Well located on Bangor's main street, this inviting bakery, tea rooms/coffee shop, restaurant and delicatessen offers the weary shopper a choice of tasty fare throughout the day, and is an institution in the town.

Famous for its home baking, work starts bright and early and the wholesome aroma will draw you in to this busy shop, where there’s a good selection of home bakes on offer by opening time – or you can repair to the comfortable restaurant area to enjoy a full traditional Ulster Fry, complete with speciality potato bread and soda bread...

Later, a hearty lunch is also available with filled baked potatoes, quiches and salads offered alongside mains including fish from Portavogie to tempt those in need of something more substantial.

Alternatively, shoppers like taking a few minutes to relax in the bright and comfortable surroundings to enjoy a cuppa and snack from the wide variety of freshly baked breads, scones, cakes and pastries from the well stocked self service counter.

And for those who don’t have time to stop, the takeaway bakery and well-presented delicatessen counter offers plenty of choice, including local specialities such as their Ballyholme Irish oatmeal biscuits; as well as earning popularity with regular customers, some of their products have won praise at the UK Great Taste Awards - try the rich fruit loaf, for example.

With so many good things on offer and friendly and efficient staff, it is easy to understand why this place is so popular.
