Former Dublin food truck supremos Dee Kelly and Matteo Grescti moved their popular business to permanent premises in Fethard on Sea just as the pandemic was beginning to bite - but, despite the challenges, they have not only survived but thrived.
From small beginnings they soon developed a very attractive café on the main street of this charming seaside village - and, with tables set on the footpath and plenty of happy customers queuing and eating at the outdoor tables, it would be hard to pass by. Specialising in beautiful baked goods (from their sister business Lumi, in Duncannon) and an enclectic range of brunch and lunch dishes, it has become a must-stop place in the Hook Head and New Ross area, equally popular with locals, visitors (including followers of the former food truck) and people cycling the Hook Peninsula.
New arrivals join a queue of happy customers, served in rotation by friendly staff who cheer everyone along with plenty of natural banter. Inside there's a semi-open kitchen to the rear where the hot food is prepared, a display cabinet of irresistibly tempting 'Heavenly Homemade' desserts that will not be ignored, and a menu of daily specials on the counter – and you need to be decisive when your turn comes, as you only get to see it as you are asked for your order (a larger blackboard listing would be helpful).
