Originally opened in 1870, Flanagan’s pub is a thoroughly authentic piece of West Clare heritage, in the centre of the busy seaside town of Lahinch. A traditional bar remains, with hardwood floors and tongue and groove panelling, but its new owners have achieved a transformation with The Parlour, flooding it with light and recreating the elegance of times past.
While new to Flanagan’s, siblings Maeve Sheridan and Michael Eustace are already seasoned publicans, managing McHughs in Ennis as well as their busy microbrewery, the Western Herd Brewing Company, based at their family farm in nearby Kilmaley, Co. Clare.
Featuring a fine array of craft beers from all around the country, as well as cocktails and spirits, Flanagan’s is a fun destination for a drink and they hold regular music sessions. And they have also earned a reputation for their food, offering something different from other bars and restaurant in the town.
Weekend brunches are popular and and they serve a vibrant, eclectic tapas menu every evening from Thursday to Sunday. It features Mediterranean favourites such as patatas bravas, chorizo and halloumi, as well as more traditional dishes designed to showcase quality Irish ingredients, such as Doolin crab claws, Dublin Bay prawns and roast figs with St. Tola cheese.
The Parlour at Flanagan’s offers the best of both worlds to locals and tourists alike: it’s an authentic Irish pub, with a long heritage in West Clare, that provides locally-produced craft beers and modern, international cuisine using the best of Irish produce.
