Chefs Eamon Connors and Roisin O’Connor started their little café and larder in the Waterford village of Kilmacthomas realtively recently and were quick to make their mark, with their talents already earning them an invitation to contribute to the catering for the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
Tucked behind a prettily presented traditional shopfront in a freshly painted town centre terraced building, the café is situated close to the Waterford Greenway and also very near the N25, making it a good journey break for cyclists and motorists alike.
Much of what they offer is based on seasonal local produce and there's a good variety of breakfast and lunch dishes to choose from, plus coffee and treats of course.
If you are in early, Flahavan’s Porridge (produced nearby in the town) could get your day off to a good start. You could also treat yourself to Eamo’s Full Irish - or there is a Breakfast Blaa, featuring the traditional Waterford bread roll, packed with most of the ingredients usually found in the Full Irish.
A Vegetarian Breakfast, French Toast, Breakfast Hash, Bacon and Cheese Croissant may also feature, along with a variety of egg dishes - Eggs Benedict and Royale, for example, and what looks like a massive “Huevos Rancheros Kinda”, complete the picture.
Later on, while the menu changes regularly, the varied selection of popular dishes to choose from might typically include Thai Green Curry, a Spiced Chicken Tagine, Kilmore Quay Smoked Salmon, a Smoked Bacon Quiche, Black Pudding Feta and Beetroot Salad, Baked Gnocchi, or a Toastie with house salad.- all carefully made and lifted by the quality of the good local ingredients used.
And for all those 'between times', there’s tea and coffee and a treat or two from the counter to be enjoyed.
