French couple Tanguy and Isabelle de Toulgoet are well known in gardening circles for the beautiful natural-looking and productive garden that they have created here in just a few years - visitors to the lovely gardens at nearby Castle Durrow will also be able to enjoy something similar, as Tanguy was involved with establishing them, in the trademark free-flowing country style, and they really are a joy.
The de Toulgoets’ garden is a working kitchen garden in the French "potager” genre, with mixed vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers the integral decorative elements that give it great natural beauty. It is designed for teaching as they specialise in gardening courses - notably ‘helping you to grow tasty vegetables in an organic, sustainable, intensive and cost effective way.’
In a natural pairing, they also offer ‘Seed to Table’ cookery classes based on whatever is in season at the time - a delicious way to learn as you prepare a ‘typically French’ three-course lunch, and then have the pleasure of eating it. Course dates are given on the website but can be set up at any time providing there at least four people in the group.
And, should you wish to brush up your French, they also offer full day gardening and cooking classes (that lunch again) conducted in French.
It’s a wonderful set up and gift vouchers are available.
