Husband-and-wife-team Dave Brown (formerly of The Big Cheese Co.) and Cara Lloyd brought their lifelong love of food and baking to fruition when they gave up their respective careers and opened The Corner Bakery on their own home patch in 2005.
Later joined by Dave's sister Fiona, who runs the shop, this brilliant little family-run craft bakery's particular claim to fame is cupcakes, but it's equally strong on bread (brown soda, country sourdough), pastry and cakes (try the '5* chocolate cake'...), and they offer excellent breakfast bakes (think pain au chocolat, all-butter croissant) savoury pastries ('groaning under the weight of melted cheese foccaccia'') and coffee to go.
The range of bread and cakes has expanded to meet demand for their quality products - and they installed a show window, so you can watch them being made!
