Clanconnel Brewing Company is one of Northern Ireland’s best known microbreweries, committed to producing only natural, high-quality, handcrafted beers. It was founded in June 2008 by Mark Pearson and takes its name from the ancient lands of Clanconnell, Co. Down.
The brewery is based in Waringstown, Co. Down, where a maltings and brewery once thrived. Now Clanconnel Brewing Company is bringing back the brewing tradition there, producing beer by hand in small batches. As an environmentally aware company, they also recycle as much energy as possible and all their spent grain goes to a local farmer for use as animal feed.
They currently produce four beers: Weavers Gold, a blonde ale; McGrath’s Irish Red, a traditional red ale; McGrath’s Irish Black, a dry stout; and McGrath’s Irish Blonde Ale. McGrath’s Irish Black was named the Champion Beer of the Belfast Beer Festival in 2010.
