Peter Callaghan’s great-grandfather started trading in Ardee in 1906 and Peter continues that tradition today as a fourth-generation butcher.
More than 100 years later, Peter is still doing things much the same way his great-grandfather did: buying cattle and sheep from local farmers and dry ageing it for up to 28 days for the best flavour.
Peter has won awards for his popular garlic and herb sausages, but he is best known for his black and white puddings, which are the real stars as they’re award-winners both in Ireland and in Europe-wide competitions.
Located on the N2, call in if you’re passing by and get some of that flavoursome meat, those award-winning sausages and puddings - or maybe one of their homemade lasagnes or shepherd’s pies - to take home with you.
