Named after the hoard of stunning Iron Age artefacts discovered on nearby farmland in 1896, this fine rapeseed oil range is grown and cold-pressed on their farm by sixth generation farmer Richard Kane and his wife Leona.
Delicately flavoured yet distinctive, Broighter Gold is the oil of choice for a number of top chefs and not only do the Kanes supply both plain and infused oils to leading restaurants, cookery schools and speciality food stores, but they also sell online and at farmers' markets. (Visit their website for details of markets, stockists and distributors in Northern Ireland and the Republic.)
A new special edition of the oil was launched in 2016 to celebrate their fifth year in business. All of their oils have achieved recognition in national and international competitions and their Special Edition Liquid Gold was awarded 2 stars at the Great Taste Awards 2016.
Richard and Leona also welcome visitors to the farm (by arrangement), as part of the ECONOMUSEE (www.economusees.com) initiative, to engage tourists with local crafts and food heritage.
