Ireland's premier cheesemongers, Sheridans, have partnered with Ardkeen - which says a lot about the special nature of this extraordinary store, with its absolute commitment to quality and community, and its foundation of very local artisan stocks ('Take Ours Back to Yours').
A one-stop-shop for all your gourmet needs, this independent supermarket’s shelves are stocked with the country's finest local artisan produce alongside a butcher’s counter, fish counter, fresh fruit and vegetables, delicatessen, barista coffee bar, juice bar, florist, off-licence offering over 300 wines and cookshop offering fresh meals to take home
The shop is an Aladdin's cave of beautiful foods, mainly from small producers within the county and neighbouring County Cork and with particular emphasis on seasonal foods that you may not find elsewhere.
And, not only is this brilliant shop definitely worth a detour, but the website also merits a special visit; their Food Heroes menu alone will blow you away.
And, unsurprisingly perhaps, they have their very own food hero in-store too, as Ardkeen MD Colin Jephson's unwaivering commitment to the support and development of local foods led to him being selected as one of a Failte Ireland's 'food ambassadors'. No better man - and he was in excellent company too, with other exceptional people like producer Anthony Creswell (Ummera Smokehouse, Timoleague), Ruth Healy (Urru, Bandon) and Donal Doherty (Harry's, Bridgend) also on the national team at the time.
Online shop too, for hampers, wines, gift vouchers plus a selection of products from their wide range of speciality foods - and Ardkeen also hold a Producers' Market, on the second Sunday of every month.
