Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Arriving in Ireland via Paris restaurants and food related companies, Swedish-born Emilie Mjorndal settled in Kerry and launched her charming Glenbeigh bakery, Emilie's, in 2021.

An example of the unexpected but very welcome sprinkling of high quality small food business that started up in the pandemic and thrived, Emilie's was an immediate hit and has since developed a nicely rounded offering that includes superb soughdough breads and pizzas (the 'Stone Oven Kitchen'), an excellent little speciality food store with an ever-changing selection of deli items and artisan treats from the immediate area and beyond (Kells Bay Cheese, On The Wild Side smoked fish and charcuterie, Lorge chcolates from Kenmare...)  a café with rustic-chic seating indoors and a few pavement tables for walkers and anyone who is just popping in on a sunny day.

Menus change through the day beginning with coffees and Breakfast (10am-12noon), offering quick bites like cappuccino and a pastry or granola with yoghurt along with breakfast classics like poached eggs and smashed avocado on their own toasted sourdough. Brunch and Lunch menus follow on until 3pm (salads, sourdough toasties...) and then dinner, from 5pm - including delicious antipasti platters and their crusty speciality pizzas, topped with the tastiest of local and Italian ingredients and cooked in their handsome wood-fired oven.

Expect top-notch baking, in particular. There's a selection of delicious freshly baked scones, buns, cakes and pastries avilable from opening time (just the thing for walkers' picnics) and their trademark chewy sourdough loaves disappear fast, so phone ahead to reserve one if you want to avoid disappointment.

Lovely people too - all round a great place to know about, whether you're a visitor doing 'the Ring', enjoying a holiday stay nearby - or one of the very lucky locals.
