Bangor, Co. Down

Bangor is a pleasant seaside town with plenty of shopping, and a large marina, offering visitors boating, yachting, sea angling, golf, and sandy beaches. 

Ballyholme Yacht club (0044 28 91 271 467), provides yachting tuition, whilst scuba enthusiasts can visit Bangor Scuba diving (0044 28 91 861 686) which offers a mix of dive sites, suited to all levels. 

Historical sites of interest include the three storey Helen’s tower, built around 1858, erected in honour of Helen Lady Dufferin and the Bangor Abbey Parish church is worth a visit as it kept its 15th Century tower. 

Redburn Country Park (0044 91 811 491) has beautiful woodland walks and views of Belfast Lough and hills. 

The Bird of Prey centre (0044 28 91 270 069) provides an exciting stop for visitors as they put on flying displays with the different birds of prey, and is the only centre of its kind in Northern Ireland.
