Ballycastle (Irish: Baile an Chaisil) is a village on the northern coast of County Mayo, 26km (16 miles) northwest of Ballina. It is a lovely one street village with several pubs and a tea rooms along with an artists retreat. The wild Atlantic ocean is nearby and it is a dramatic and beautiful coastline.
The nearby Céide Fields are where the first settlers began to farm the slopes of the Behy/Glenurla hillside over 5000 years ago. There is a very interesting visitor centre there now.
