You'll spot the sign for Wildwood on your way into Carlingford village and it's one worth noting. Paul and Marie Woods have run the aptly named Viewpoint B&B here for many years and now their daughter and son-in-law, Johanna Woods and Shane Lennon, operate this delightful cafe on the premises.
Eat Well Be Well! is the cheerful slogan - and they mean it. The location overlooking Carlingford Lough is a draw - and it is truly stunning on a fine day - but there is much more than a pretty view to this unusual café.
Offering something very different from the many thriving cafés and restaurants in the bustling village (about 10 minutes walk away), the focus at Wildwood is on wholefoods and, while not a vegetarian restaurant, many of the dishes are plant based.
Although other things are offered, including pizza, the broad theme of Shane's cooking is Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, so you can expect the likes of hummus and flat breads, mezze platters, tzatziki, lamb kofta, falafel and couscous, with some very tasty sauces.
The house bean burger is popular too, and served wth delicious salads - but many people come here just for the excellent coffee and irresistible homemade cakes and desserts...And, of course, the view.
