Just a couple of miles from Shannon Airport and convenient to both Limerick City and the Wild Attlantic Way, the Oakwood Hotel came into new ownership in 2017 when it was purchased by the Treacy family of hoteliers from Waterford. They wasted no time in refurbishing the property to 4-star standards - and the aim of Maria Keena (née Treacy) is 'to put Treacys Oakwood Hotel on the map as the “go-to place” for luxurious accommodation, flavoursome food, a friendly welcome and more importantly, a family welcome for all guests.'

A good choice for business travellers, the Oakwood is near the Shannon Business District and well equipped with 100MB broadband Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and complimentary guest parking, while downtime activities nearby include some of Ireland's most famous golf courses. The Shannon Region is an ideal venue for international get togethers and any number can be facilitated here, as the hotel offers everything from a small interview room to a large exhibition space or conference area for up to 500 delegates.

The lounge bar and bistro has an aviation theme, honouring the memory of the pioneer female pilot Sophie Pearse, who came from the area, and both here and in The Restaurant fast and friendly service is a point of pride; international travellers going through Shannon will especially appreciate the breakfast choices, which include an early service continental  breakfast (available from 5am) as well as a full cooked breakfast daily.

And, while especially relevant as an airport and business hotel, families are very welcome here too making it a place to consider as a base for visiting the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher and medieval castles including King Johns Castle in Limerick and, of course, Bunratty Castle and its folk village.
