With stylish livery and friendly curves,The Salty Buoy, a natty looking blue Citroen H, has become an instant hit on the Irish street food scene.
Moving about, from Roe & Co Distillery in the Liberties (where meals are bookable for over 18s - 3 sittings, with cocktails), to farmers' markets in north and south Dublin, Niall Sabongi, of Temple Bar gems Klaw and The Seafood Café (see entries), shifted his focus during the Covid-19 lockdown, to create a new mobile seafood outlet that’s different and fun.
Owner of Sustainable Seafood Ireland, Sabongi has access to the freshest seafood which ensures the van’s short menus change constantly and are always exciting and enticing.
In season, delights like lobster roll and shucked native oysters with hot sauce, might be on offer with the signature ray kiev and chips, steamed Dublin Bay prawns or piquant tuna tacos.
The queue moves fast and the fare is always worth the wait. Pricier than a trip to the chip shop, there’s no fast food vibes about this top class street food, which is carefully prepared by chefs using the best ingredients.
