Styled 'Boutique Hotel', every detail of Rebecca Queally and David Burke's luxurious heritage hideaway in the centre of Dungarvan has been carefully considered.
From the lovingly collected antiques and original artwork to all the little extras provided (there's even a toothbrush in each gorgeous bathroom, in case you left yours at home), this delightful place oozes TLC. Maximalist is how they describe their unique combination of vintage and contemporary style, and what a joy it is.
And when it comes to food, less is more, with no cooked breakfast or dinners offered (why do that when some of the town's best restaurants are just metres away) but wonderful charcuterie boards and toasties instead, along with goodies from Dún Artisan Bakery nearby – and a short but meticulously curated all-French wine list and bespoke cocktails to sip in the stylish bar, or out in the welcoming courtyard when weather permits. All this and super friendly staff, who are clearly proud to work in this beautiful bolthole.
A one-off in so many ways and one with a big heart, The Hat Maker is well worth seeking out.
