Attractively situated on Lisburn Square and named after a nearby laneway, this design-led new venture from the Beannchor Group (of The Merchant Hotel Belfast among others) will please business and leisure visitors alike.
Whether arriving in the underground carpark (public, but with direct access to the hotel) or from the nearby bus or train station, it's sure to impress from the start - and not just for its swish contemporary style but, especially, for the genuine hospitality and can-do attitude of well trained staff who are happy to go the extra mile for guests.
The very pleasant public areas include a welcoming lobby bar and the Haslem Kitchen, which serves good food throughout the day, including an excellent breakfast.
While accommodation tends toward the bijou end of the spectrum ('small but perfectly formed' as they say themselves), guest rooms make up in thoughtful use of space for anything they lack in actual size - and, not only are the more expensive options actually quite spacious, but several self catering apartments are available too. All rooms have the usual amenities (including 55" TV, superfast WiFi and rainfall showers) and, as elsewhere in the hotel, quirky contemporary artwork by the well known Belfast-based artist Leo Boyd provides fascinating conversation pieces.
Dining in-house is a pleasant option that many guests will welcome, but the hotel also directs guests to Little Wing Pizzeria (in common ownership) for a casual outling that's sure to be popular with families - and the excellent Square Bistro (see entry) is nearby as well.
All round a really good place to know about and well located for visiting some of Northern Ireland's biggest attractions, including Hillsborough Castle & Gardens, the Game of Thrones Studio Tour and Hilden Brewery - The Haslem is a winner.
