For over half a century the O’Sullivan family’s traditional restaurant in the centre of Sneem village has been known for its friendly atmosphere and good, generous food served at fair prices.
It was first opened in 1968 by Cáit O’Sullivan, who had vision for the future of the area as well as talent in the kitchen - and her son, Johnny (the chef) and his wife, Trish (front of house) now keep up the family tradition with equal commitment.
“Seafood, steaks and traditional Irish cooking” are the promise and that’s exactly what is best suited to this atmospheric old-style restaurant, with its wooden beans, tiled floor and country pine furniture. Vegetarians are well looked after, of course, but it’s the great steaks and local seafood that most people head here to enjoy.
It’s a family friendly place, with a dedicated Children's Menu offered, and the many years of practice ensure that customers of all ages can enjoy a wholesome and relaxing meal here, at a reassuringly moderate price.
Consistency is rare in restaurants - and especially over such a long period - but the O'Sullivans do it with style, and that is the secret of their success at Sacré Coeur.
