This pleasant, well-run and very popular pub in Navan makes a good meeting place for a drink or at lunch-time, when contemporary light meals are offered: soups, a choice of smashed avocado or steak bruschetta, Wooded Pig chorizo tart, or sweet potato and Clare Island salmon fishcakes.
Traditional open sandwiches come on homemade brown or white soda bread - honey baked ham, perhaps, with a salad garnish or 15 Fields Cheddar with candied walnuts and Ryan’s chutney.
Apple pie and cream may be predictable but it’s enjoyable nonetheless - and there’s always a dessert among the daily specials.
It’s good value, the airy bar makes for a comfortable atmosphere and staff are friendly and efficient.
