One of the prettiest properties in Kinsale and dating back to 1820, Andrew and Laura Corcoran's characterful period house on the harbour front has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard and provides excellent accommodation only 15 minutes from the Old Head of Kinsale golf links.
Although very centrally located, it has the feeling of a country house and the gracious public rooms are beautifully furnished, as if for a private home, and with Laura's displays of fresh flowers from her own garden everywhere.
Spacious, individually decorated bedrooms vary in size and outlook (ones at the front are most appealing, but the back is quieter) and all have extra large beds and thoughtful extras such as fresh flowers, complimentary mineral water, quality toiletries, robes and slippers. The suites have exceptionally luxurious bathrooms, although all are well-appointed and many have separate bath and shower.
Perryville seems pretty much perfect to their many happy guests, but Andrew and Laura never stop thinking about how it could be better still. Thus, in 2016, they closed their lovely shop and tea rooms in order to create an extra ground floor room - and also a handsome bar. Light meals can be served here and it is a wonderful additional amenity for residents.
Roll on to 2018, and plans were afoot to add ten new rooms - a plan so seamlessly executed that the casual observer arriving at Perryville now would never guess that anything had recently changed. And, masters of detail as always, they even created a stunning new garden to the side of the building so that rooms without a seaview would have an equally pleasing outlook.
Breakfast, of course, bears the same stamp of quality, including home-baked breads, Andrew's honey, local cheeses, and other speciality foods from the area and around Ireland. An outstanding destination by any standards.
