It’s all too easy to miss this pleasant family run hotel near Thomond Park as traffic speeds by on the Limerick - Shannon road. Although partially screened by motorway banks, an unpreposessing 1970's exterior has had a recent facelift with softening greenery and tall glass frontage opening onto a welcoming reception area.

Welcoming is the byword here as Daphne Greene is the third generation of the family to head up front of house with friendly staff trained to put customer service at the top of the agenda. Brother Hugh is in charge of the food side of the business, with homely touches like freshly baked cookies served with tea and excellent coffee.

Comfortable bedrooms have recently been refurbished and 16 generously proportioned family rooms are conveniently located on the same level as the leisure centre with 16 metre lane swimming pool and kiddies splash pool.

Attractive public areas lead to conference and banqueting rooms overlooking landscaped grounds and a flower-hung courtyard with splashing fountain that is popular for summer aperitifs as well as wedding photos.

In the spacious Bryan's Cafe Bar and Hugh's Steakhouse & Grill, there’s an emphasis on freshly cooked local produce and delicious home bakes including excellent brown bread and scones. Menus run to popular favourites like Greene's seafood chowder, gourmet burgers and char-grilled steaks served with home cut chunky chips, onion rings and roasted vine tomatoes.

Dessert choices like homemade sherry trifle, fresh fruit pavlova and orange and passion fruit cheesecake. provide sweet satisfaction.

The breakfast buffet includes a wide choice of freshly squeezed juices, fruit salad and compotes, homemade breads and pastries as well as cooked-to-order treats like fish of the day (including kippers), eggs Benedict and the traditional full Irish.
