A popular additon to the wide-ranging dining choices in Kinsale, Colm Ryan’s Cru was born out of a desire to provide locals and tourists with a cosy, warm, atmospheric place where they can enjoy simple but high quality food prepared by Chef Paul Ellis and his team.
Here too you may pick out a lovely wine by the glass or bottle, and have fun. Indeed, you’ll be encouraged to do both in this engaging place by the owner and his staff - so it's no wonder that very soon opening early in the 2018 season, it earned a reputation for its wine and music as well as for food.
The menu is eclectic, usually offering about ten starters including everything from Bourbon glazed pork belly chunks to a Fish Board (which includes Ummera and Hederman smoked produce). More unusual are dishes like Coconut Prawns on Asian noodle salad and the Pan fried chicken dumplings - and the staff will also fill you in on the specials.
Meat lovers will be happy here - Surf and Turf Special, classic steaks and lamb shanks all go down well - and there's plenty of fish too, usually including one or two on the specials list, while those lookin for a smaller dish might prefer options like Toulouse sausage or Pappardelle with roasted butternut squash.
But many come here mainly for the atmosphere and the wine list which, like the playlist, has been put together (amd annotated) by the owner. There is something there to suit everyone and every budget, and most are available by the glass - and local craft drinks, such as Black’s beers and Stonewell’s ciders, are offered as well.
