Down a laneway right in the centre of Tralee, close to the point where The Mall and Denny Street meet, you'll find this little piece of France.
Run by the eponymous Christophe Favaudon - formerly of several distinguished restaurant kitchens including Dublin's Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud - it's a cosy and relaxed spot that's as full of Gallic charm as the promise of good food.
Tables outside the spotless premises set the scene and it would be hard not to be drawn inside where, once hooked, the deli counter is sure to work its magic with all its continental treats. The staff speak French amongst themselves and, whether you’re a returning customer or a visitor just popping your head inside the door, you can be sure of an effusive welcome that it would be pointless to resist.
All of the tasty food is cooked on the premises and blackboards offer plenty of choice, with perennially popular options including moules frites, pates, terrines, French breads and cheeses - and, while there is no wine list, you can take your pick from the well priced selection on display.
They start early in the day with breakfast (just taste the real old fashioned bacon…) and, while lunch or a late week evening meal would be recommended, it’s a most relaxing stopping off place for a snack or coffee at any time.
With tremendous atmosphere, tasty food, great coffee and professional yet discreet service from friendly staff, this is a consistently popular go-to place in central Tralee.
