Sliabh Aughty Honey, Leahy Beekeeping, Carrownmore, Co Galway

Near Loughrea in East Galway fourth generation conservationists, Leahy Beekeeping, produce the gorgeous Sliabh Aughty Honey - and it’s not only a delight to find on your breakfast table but also a brilliant product to introduce to guests, who can sign up for the fascinating and highly educational beekeeping experience they offer to individuals, families and groups. Set in an area of conservation in the beautiful Sliabh Aughty Mountains, Noel Leahy and family members show their visitors the way bees work, their importance to the environment, and the different seasonal flowers and herbs they use to make their honey. The inner workings of the hive and how to identify the queen, workers and drones are explained, and there's a tasting of various types of their 100% raw, single filtered and unpasteurised honeys, and an introduction to other honey products and natural skincare products made from beeswax.
