The Powerscourt Hotel
Nestling in the beautiful Wicklow mountains a short drive from Dublin lies Powerscourt, one of Ireland's most famous estates. Surrounded by dense woodlands, this luxury hotel is one sweeping curve that sits into the hillside beneath the shadows of the iconic Sugarloaf mountain.
Despite its seven storey height, the Palladian style exterior has been cleverly designed to look all but three floors tall - the idea of the highly-respected architect Jeremy Williams, who was involved with the original project.
Inside, this wedding venues vast lobby has a triple height window facing the iconic Sugarloaf mountain, spectacular flowers, feature chandeliers in the shape of hot air balloons, deep armchairs, and - an endearing feature - roaring log fires, all making for a dramatic public space.
Luxury is the name of the game here, rather than style - traditionally appointed bedrooms are predictably generous in size, sporting chandeliers and every manner of comfort, including king size beds with crisp cotton sheets, walk-in dressing rooms, and exceptionally well stocked mini bars. Marble bathrooms are a delight, with double sinks, a double-ended bath and two kinds of showerhead; a steam resistant mirror in the shower makes shaving a dream, there's a TV screen set into the main bathroom mirror and serious attention to detail is seen in Bulgari toiletries, fluffy robes, super soft towels and glass accessories, including a thoughtful ring holder.
Mountain View rooms cost more (with those on the left affording the best views) while Garden View rooms look onto landscaped courtyards.
Resort amenities include the existing 36-hole championship-quality Powerscourt Golf Club golf complex, and a new 30,000 square foot Espa spa with private suites, 20 treatment rooms, a beauty salon, 20-metre indoor pool and a fitness centre. A children's activity programme and babysitting services are also available.
Extending over 5,959 square feet (558 square meters) the Ballroom will seat up to 400 people for a gala dinner and up to 600 for a reception. The Ballroom can be further divided into three salons.
The dedicated Special Events Team at The Powerscourt Hotel have a wealth of experience at creating stunning events in Ireland and overseas and have the facilities to enable any event organiser to create their perfect, tailor-made occasion.
Intimate Ceremonies in Powerscourt House
In addition to the range of facilities on offer at The Powerscourt Hotel, couples may also avail of the magnificent setting at Powerscourt House, an 18th century manor at the centre of the historic Powerscourt Estate.
The Georgian Ballroom is a stunning venue for more intimate events and offers seating for up to 140 guests, complete with extensive marquee options on the grounds.
The world famous Powerscourt Gardens are available for private use after 5pm, making it an ideal setting for pre-dinner drinks receptions, wedding photography or exclusive private parties.
