Radisson Blu Roe Park Resort

Built on rising ground in lovely rolling countryside, this imposing hotel dates back to the eighteenth century when a Captain Richard Babington built the original house from which today’s extensive hotel and wedding venues grown. There is a pleasant air of relaxed luxury - the tone is set in an impressive foyer, with columns and a curved gallery overlooking a seating area smartly set up with comfortable sofas and armchairs.



There are half a dozen churches of different denominations to choose from in the area, and wedding blessings are possible at the hotel. A formal wedding planning service is not offered but, as well as organising everything that is available on-site, experienced staff are on hand to guide and advise throughout the build-up to the wedding day, suggesting local companies who can supply everything from a limousine to a helicopter.



Although smaller numbers are catered for, this is a venue best suited to larger weddings - a toastmaster is available on the day, and the minimum number required for weekend bookings is 100 guests; the reception is held in a function room, which is dressed with candles and coloured napkins but the bride and groom are responsible for flowers and other decorations. The room is attractive but, as it has no natural light, it is at its best in the evening and therefore especially appropriate for off-season weddings when the days are shorter.



Food is well above average for large hotel gatherings, and staff at this well-run hotel are very pleasant and helpful - and a nice touch is that a complimentary meal is offered for the bride and groom to use up to a year after the wedding. Spacious bedrooms in the modern classic mode have double and single beds and well-finished bathrooms - and all look out over the golf course or a courtyard garden.
