Longueville House

Secluded amid a picturesque and private 500-acre wooded estate overlooking the famous River Blackwater, in South-West Ireland, the listed Georgian Longueville House Hotel is steeped in history and character, yet this boutique country house hotel is very warm, unpretentious and inviting.

Owned and managed by William & Aisling O'Callaghan, the house dates from 1720, with wings added in 1800, and the wonderful Turner conservatory, which has been completely renovated, was built in 1865. Romantically draped with muslin, this wedding venues historic conservatory and the adjacent Presidents' Restaurant (named after the family collection of specially commissioned portraits of all Ireland’s past presidents) make a stunning backdrop for a memorable wedding dinner cooked by renowned chef-proprietor William O’Callaghan.

The convenient location just 30 minutes north of Cork City (11/2 hours drive from Shannon airport) makes Longueville House Hotel a much sought after wedding venue for Irish and international visitors, and it is recognised as it one of the best wedding hotels in Cork.

With the Blackwater river, a working farm and a productive walled garden supplying the kitchen from the estate - fresh salmon when in season, Longueville lamb, free range woodland pork and all its fruit and vegetables - Longueville House has a field to fork policy throughout.

The estate’s crowning glory is their own Longueville House Apple Brandy which is distilled on site, along with Longueville House Artisan Cider also brewed on site!

Arriving guests are shown to the drawing and bar, both elegantly furnished with beautiful fabrics and family antiques, and the 20 bedrooms are equally sumptuous.

Longueville House has been approved to host civil marriage ceremonies on site. This means that they can host your wedding and reception in the same delightful venue, with no complicated upheavals for your wedding party. Civil wedding ceremonies are approved to take place in two areas on site, in both The Presidents’ Room & The Library.

For Civil Ceremonies, up to 60 Guests can be accommodated at the ceremony; The Presidents’ Room accommodates up to 60 Guests and, for smaller numbers, The Library will take18 Guests. Both rooms carry a nominal hire fee. There are also several churches nearby, and a synagogue and registry in Cork city only 40 minutes drive.

The maximum number of guests catered to for a wedding meal /reception is 130, spread over three dining areas with three each with a distinctly different but equally appealing ambience. The Presidents’ Restaurant seats 38, the Turner Conservatory 76, and The Library 16 Guests, and the three rooms are inter-connected. Should guest numbers exceed 130, they can offer The Chinese Room as an additional dining area, set slightly separately from the other three dining areas. This lovely room seats 16.

Pampering afternoons for brides and girlfriends can be arranged, with cosmetics consultations by appointment - and this is a wonderful place to spend a few days with Cork, Kinsale and Kenmare are all nearby, or you could just spend a relaxing day loafing around.

For the boys’ entertainment, a day or afternoon of fly fishing on the Longueville stretch of the Blackwater can be arranged or some clay pigeon shooting on site by appointment with our ghillie.

For couples who wish to use the accommodation and have exclusive use of the hotel on their wedding night or thereafter, up to 20 guest bedrooms are available for family and friends, accommodating in total 38/42 house guests. The house is also available for exclusive rental to wedding parties in excess of 70 Guests.

On the evening before or after awedding reception, an informal supper can be pre-organised, such as hog roast/court yard barbeque (weather permitting), picnic outdoors or a full formal gourmet dinner in any one of the hotel’s private dining areas. These meals will need to be reserved and pre-chosen with the hotel at the time of your initial booking as the restaurant will also be open to regular dinner guests at this time.

Prices for these meals range from €35 to €65 per person depending on your menu and service choice and can be discussed in more detail with your wedding co-ordinator.

Taking the current economy into consideration, Longueville House have favourably adjusted their terms of business for weddings to accommodate the bridal party in a more positive, economical way. Longueville House now offer "all inclusive " packages ranging in price from €100 pp/ €115 pp/ €125 pp to €150 pp.

Yes we can!

Be it a small wedding, an outdoor wedding, a civil wedding, a same sex wedding, an intimate wedding, an historic wedding location, wedding venues with a view or simply a party venue, Longueville House could be the ideal venue. Although the house itself is a traditional Georgian Manor House, the Longueville wedding co-ordinator can help you plan your wedding day to make it as formal, traditional, bohemian, contemporary or relaxed as you wish.

They recommend that you “Get creative and unleash all those wedding dreams amassed since childhood, consider hosting your wedding in a garden for that intimate wedding vibe, an apple orchard, a stone court yard, in rolling park lands or on a river bank!” During fine weather the delightful setting provides wonderful arrays of flowers and shrubbery for your perfect country wedding.
