Kilmokea Country Manor & Gardens

This wedding venues a Georgian country house set in seven acres of Heritage Gardens. There are Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic churches close by (a vintage Austin 7 is available for hire), and blessings are possible here in the gardens - which are also perfect for photographs.

Emma sings with Wexford Festival Singers and has a lot of musical contacts, so any kind of musical welcome can be arranged, and the drinks & canapes reception can be held in the formal walled gardens, weather permitting, or indoors in the Peacock Room, which overlooks the lovely gardens at the back.

In addition to more usual drinks, sparkling elderflower cordial is available at €5 per jug - a refreshing option on a hot summer day. For the wedding feast, the resident chef at Kilmokea meets the bride and groom to discuss the menu, which is a full sit down lunch or dinner and can be hosted in the Georgian conservatory, which seats a maximum of 70 guests, or a marquee which attaches to the front of the house and can seat up to 120.

Venue hire of the conservatory is reasonable at €450, but the marquee option is expensive as the basic hire charge of €1,900 does not include the lining and drapes, tables, chairs, dance floor, generator and heater which are all priced separately.

Accommodation includes immaculately maintained bedrooms in the main house and, in an adjoining coach house, some more modern rooms and self-catering suites; all ten bedrooms must be booked for two nights, and there is also good extra accommodation nearby.

It is a delightful place to spend a couple of days - and a beautiful corner of Ireland to explore.
