Killashee House Hotel & Villa Spa
Georgina Campbell
Set in 80 acres of gardens and woodland just outside Naas town, this hotel and wedding venues been developed around a Victorian building and has earned a reputation for excellent weddings, which can range from relatively small parties of up to 80 for dinner in the main house, to really large gatherings of up to 500 in the Ballroom.
There is a wide range of churches to choose from in the area, and blessings can be held at the hotel, although it is the couple’s responsibility to arrange the celebrant.
A wedding co-ordinator is on hand to assist with all aspects of planning, and guide you through the various options offered: there is no venue hire charge for the Ballroom, for example, and no minimum number is required for midweek weddings, but if you want to hold your wedding between Thursday and Saturday (or a bank holiday Monday), the minimum number of guests is 150; at the Main House, however, there is a charge of €5,750 per day for exclusive use - this has its own entrance, reception rooms, and a banqueting suite for up to 80 guests, and the charge includes 12 suites (with discounted rate available for any additional accommodation required).
They have things down to a fine art here - including offering all guests at mid-week weddings (Mon-Wed) complimentary summer or winter punch or tea/coffee and hot nuts on arrival, and complimentary sparkling wine for the toast while all weddings receive complimentary tea/coffee - and, not only do they supply a choice of cake stands and a knife for the ceremonial slicing, but a personalised bridal knife is given to each couple - who also get a complimentary champagne breakfast.
All nice touches - it is easy to see how this hotel has earned its special reputation for weddings.
