Ballinacurra House

Ballinacurra House - Kinsale County Cork ireland - Private VenueIreland’s Premier Private Estate for Exclusive Hire

Just a couple of miles west of Kinsale, this luxurious private residence is set in 40 acres of wooded grounds with landscaped gardens, and this wedding venues available for exclusive hire only. The house was built in 1791 and has been painstakingly renovated by owners Des and Lisa McGahan, who have created a 21st century take on Georgian style.

Antiques mixed with treasures and artefacts from all over the globe add up to a stylish, eclectic interior reflecting owners past and present - 22 unique bedrooms have Japanese, African and English themed bedrooms inspired by travels; some have balconies, and some have sitting rooms allowing the house to sleep up to 53 guests with a fully serviced cottage and coach house making up the other four en-suite bedrooms.

The house should preferably be taken for 2 days, and there is no shortage of space to relax - and itineraries can be arranged for several days ; the McGahans can organise transfers by helicopter, private mini bus, limousine or saloon cars (Mercedes or Jaguars) to and from various places within Ireland: “Just tell us what your schedule is, and we will arrange the bookings in advance of your arrival”.

They can arrange everything including beauty treatments, massage, hair styling and even a milliner as well as a special welcome (such as a piper), photography, flowers and so on. Nearby Kinsale has a wide choice of churches and both the ceremony and blessings are also possible at Ballinacurra - and there are endless wonderful photo opportunities in the house and grounds.

A buffet held throughout the house is an informal option for larger numbers, or the reception can be a formal meal in the Danford ballroom (Italian Trompe l’Oeil decor, south facing terrace and bar, seats 50) and/or the Garden Room which can accommodate 96 or 130 using both rooms side by side, where menus ranging from 3 to 8 courses are served, beginning with canapes in the bar and ending with digestifs and home made petits fours at the table. Larger weddngs may avail of a marquee.

Alternatively, the Private Dining Room can be used for small parties (16); this is a place where the options seem to be endless, and everything possible is done to ensure a magical occasion for guests.

Magnificent south-facing walled gardens feature an outdoor entertainment patio, croquet lawn, playground, helipad, picnic lawn, stream and pond, and leads down to woods and a small boat jetty on the Bandon River estuary. The property has numerous themed rooms and the informally manicured  grounds are perfect for outdoor cocktail parties, activities, garden parties and BBQ's.

It is possible to host civil marriages in Ballinacurra House and since opening they have hosted numerous civil ceremonies, blessings, humanist ceremonies and other multi-denominational wedding gatherings.

In these economically challenging times, the McGahan's believe that the key is to marry quality and style, within a budget guideline to suit your needs. With this in mind they are advising our clients that the way to achieve this balance, is to focus on the four key elements to a good Wedding Event;

1. Quality  Venue

2. Quality F&B at the right price

3. Quality Entertainment – that represents value but does not fall into the crass wedding category

4. Quality Company – this is your deliverable !

 All other items on In the wedding checklist are secondary to a degree. With the right choices made, they can help deliver these at cost effective rates or you can choose to focus on the 4 elements and streamline your budget – without comprising quality – on what is the most important day of your life.
